Direct China Cotton Importers - Wonalancet, 1909
This was the great Munich artist’s first poster for an American client, and it is a gem of early Modernism, as elemental and direct as any Object Poster by Lucian Bernhard. The printing is spectacular, with deep jewel tones and Hohlwein’s patented texturing technique that adds a sumptuous decorative richness. The design was so successful that Hohlwein adapted it the following year for his Marco Polo Tee poster.
In excellent condition. It must be seen to be appreciated.
