Nederlandsche Jaarbeurs Utrecht (green), 1935
Since its opening in 1917, the Trade Fair (Jaarbeurs) in the Dutch city of Utrecht has become one of the largest in Europe. Known as the Continent's most industrious traders, the Dutch promoted the fair with posters by many of its best artists.
This futuristic vista was created by Henri Pieck, an artist/architect from the Haguewho trained in his home town and in Amsterdam. This poster, one of the finest in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht series, was made shortly after Pieck's return to the Hague from 13 years in London.
