Framed by neighboring buildings, Cleveland's Terminal Tower soars before a golden sky in this luminous image by Leslie Ragan. Built above the new train station, the tower was at 52 stories the tallest building in the world outside of New York City at its opening in 1930, the event this poster commemorates. It still stands.

Cleveland was one of Leslie Ragan's first posters for the New York Central Lines, the railroad for which he would produce many of his iconic Art Deco images. With its signature grandeur and dreaminess, his style owed a debt to that of such great American illustrators as Maxfield Parrish and N.C. Wyeth. No other artist captured the heyday of the American city better.
