Since the early ‘70s, Zurich’s Filmpodium has become as famous for its posters as for its active film festival schedule. Early on, the Festival turned to a young Lucerne graphic designer who had studied with Saul Bass in the U.S. to create a hip, Post-Modern look for the posters. Burhwiler's Post-Modern design for a 1981 Jean-Luc Godard Film Festival showed a few film frames of the artist's well-known face behind sun glasses and smoking a cigarette. Voila! Instant classic.
