This is the Italian poster at its most wildly allegorical best. Hohenstein gives us a vision of heaven and hell, all to promote sulphur-free matches! This very early Art Nouveau poster features iridescent color and an interwoven, spiraling composition to build drama. It is a uniquely Italian creation, and offers a vivid contrast to the French poster in its classicism and operatic melodrama.
